Death Magnetic the upcoming ninth studio album by american heavy metal band metallica It is scheduled for release as early as September 10,2008 by Warner Bro. records. The album will be the band's first to feature current bassist Robert trujillo, and the first to be produced by Rick Rubin. It will also be their first studio album released through Warner Bros., although they still remain with Warner Music Group, which also knowns Elektra Records, the band's previous label. The album will be promoted by the preceding single "The Day That Never Comes" released in august.

Strawberries and cream cookies

This is how you can make delicious strawberries and cream cookies Shortbread dough is enlivened with a splash of cream and bits of dried strawberries. To prevent the cookies from spreading, work with chilled dough and do not press the dough flat before baking. Store: Wrap each cooled cookie in wax paper, then place in a jar or on a plate with a domed cover; cookies will be good for 4 to 5 days. Wrapped dough may be refrigerated for 2 to 3 days. To freeze the dough, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and seal in a heavy-duty resealable plastic food storage freezer bag for up to two months.

Ingredients:

-3/4 cup sugar (may substitute superfine sugar)
-16 tbs (2 sticks) butter, unsalted kept at room temperature
-2 cups flour, plus more for dusting
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-1 tbs heavy cream
-1/4 tsp salt
-1/2 cup white chocolate, finely chopped
-3/4 cup strawberries, finely chopped, dried Method

Finely pulverise the sugar in a food processor, letting the machine run for about 10 seconds. (Skip this step if using superfine sugar.) Combine the sugar and butter in the bowl of a stand mixer or a hand-held mixer; beat on low speed for several minutes, until fluffy. Add the flour, vanilla extract, cream and salt; mix well. Stop the motor and stir in the white chocolate and dried strawberries, mixing them until evenly distributed. The dough should be firm (if not, add up to 2 tablespoons flour and incorporate well). Transfer to a lightly floured work surface; knead gently for about 1 minute, until it holds together and becomes firmer. Flatten the dough into a disk, wrap well with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and as long as 12 hours. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 325°C. Stack two baking sheets and line the top sheet with parchment paper. Gently roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch. Now, use a 2-inch round cookie cutter to cut out the cookies. Place the cookies at least 1 inch apart on the baking sheet; reduce the temperature to 300°C and bake for about 40 to 50 minutes, until lightly browned around the edges. Let cool on the sheet for 5 to 10 minutes, then transfer carefully to a wire rack to cool. Thailand bans Grand Theft Auto IV

The 18-year-old high school student is accused of stabbing the cab driver to death by trying to copy a scene from the game.

The biggest video game publisher in the south-east Asian country, New Era Interactive Media, has told retailers to stop selling GTA IV.

It is due to be replaced by another video game title.

Death penalty

Thai newspapers say the teenager, whose name has been withheld, was arrested while trying to steer a cab backwards out of a Bangkok street with the driver still in the back seat.

Police claim the 18-year-old confessed to stealing the taxi and said he killed the 54-year-old driver after he fought back. The teenager could face the death penalty if he is found guilty.

Bangkok police Captain Veerarit Pipatanasak said: "He wanted to find out if it was as easy in real life to rob a taxi as it was in the game.

"He wanted money to play the game. His parents, who work as civil servants, did not have enough money to give him."

Thailand's Culture Ministry has recently been pushing for tougher regulation of games like Grand Theft Auto.

It wants stricter age ratings and restrictions on the hours that people can play games in arcades.
Ladda Thangsupachai, director of the ministry's Cultural Surveillance Centre, said: "This time-bomb has already exploded and the situation could get worse. Today it is a cab driver, but tomorrow it could be a video game shop owner."

Diablo III is a genre-redefining Action Role-Playing Game (ARPG) that sets players on a compelling adventure to thwart the forces of the Burning Hells, set on the rich world known as Sanctuary and other planes of existence. Players choose from five character classes to develop uniquely skilled heroes and heroines to combat the hundreds of varities of monsters, ultimately to defeat Diablo, the Lord of Terror. Diablo III was announced at the World Wide Invitational 2008 tournament and convention in Paris on June 28, 2008.

It’s too early to estimate Diablo III’s release date. Blizzard said it’s goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. Plot and story elements

Since the beginning of time, a war has raged between the forces of the High Heavens and the demons of the Burning Hells. This conflict has time and time again spilled onto the human world of Sanctuary, and this land you are called to defend in Diablo III.

Diablo III continues 20 years after Baal's defeat in the World Stone Chamber within Mount Arreat, and after the Archangel Tyrael destroys the corrupted World Stone at the conclusion to Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Though the three Prime Evils have been defeated and the world of Sanctuary has returned to peace, the demons are back.

Two decades have passed since the demonic denizens, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, wandered the world of Sanctuary in a vicious rampage to shackle humanity into unholy slavery. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils directly, the memory fades slowly and the wounds of the soul still burn.

When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram's Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet from the heavens strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells – and even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself.

Gameplay and Design

Much like the two original games in the series, Diablo III is primarily about three matters:

-Slaying Monsters: Thwart the demonic forces of the Burning Hells.

-Developing Skills: Customize and build your character's attributes and special abilities.

-Collecting Items: Suit up with magical items offering crucial bonuses to your charater's defense and attack.

The game offers much more than those three objectives, of course. It comes with a whole new set of customizable quests, exciting multiplayer combat over the free online gaming service Battle.net, and a rich plot that develops over your progress through the game in cutscenes and prerendered cinematic videos.

The days of 2D isometric viewpoint games, in which style both Diablo and Diablo II are designed, are over. These two dimensional worlds have been replaced by more immersive 3D worlds in games such as Assassin's Creed, Dungeon Siege II, and Neverwinter Nights 2.

Diablo III retains its primarily overhead viewpoint, but introduces a whole new 3D world that in appearance contains some elements similar to World of Warcraft. Blizzard Entertainment developed a whole new game engine, incorporating Havok physics for Diablo III.

Ex-Google workers launch 'Cuil' search engine

San Francisco: A group of former Google engineers have launched a rival Internet search engine Cuil this week, calling it an improved version of the world's most popular web-scouring tool.

Cuil's founders include former Google staffer Anna Patterson. Patterson intends to upstage Google, which she quit in 2006 to develop a more comprehensive and efficient way to scour the Internet.

The end result is Cuil, pronounced "cool." Backed by $33 million in venture capital, the search engine began processing requests for the first time on Monday.

Cuil had kept a low profile while Patterson, her husband, Tom Costello, and two other former Google engineers — Russell Power and Louis Monier — searched for better ways to search.

Town in central region wants all dogs to be fitted with rabies tag

Manila: In a bid to prevent the spread of rabies, a Central Philippines' town had mandated that all local dogs be fitted with a tag that will indicate if the animal had been vaccinated against the disease.

Philippine laws had only recently been catching up on internationally accepted animal welfare practices and mayor Nelson Ruis and the town council of San Jose in Negros Oriental province had come up with a way of letting residents know if a dog has been vaccinated against rabies or not.

Through a simple metal tag worn around the dog's neck, residents will know if the dog had been administered with the vaccine.

According to a report by the daily Sunstar, before a dog can wear the tags, the pet owner must have the animal registered with authorities.

After the pet had been registered, the owner will be given a certificate that his or her animal bad been vaccinated against rabies.

Just like in any other rural and suburban areas in the Philippines, the spread of rabies is a problem.

Compounding this predicament is the fact that in some parts of the country dogs are not only considered as pets but as a delicacy as well.

Rabies, also called mad dog disease or "hydrophobia" is a fatal illness that causes the brain to swell. It can afflict humans.
